Questions

Acrylic Nails FAQs

What are acrylic nails?

Acrylic nails are created by combining a liquid monomer and powder polymer that harden when exposed to air, forming a strong protective layer over natural nails or extensions. They are the most durable and long-lasting nail enhancement available.

How long do acrylic nails last?

With proper care, acrylic nails last 2–3 weeks before needing a fill-in. A new full set is typically done every 6–8 weeks.

What is a Pink & White set?

Pink & White (also called French acrylics) uses a pink acrylic for the nail bed and white acrylic for the tips to create a classic, sophisticated French look that doesn't chip or fade.

Do acrylic nails damage natural nails?

When applied and removed properly by a licensed technician — as we do at Bliss Nail Lounge — acrylic nails do not cause significant damage. We always use proper prep, application, and safe removal techniques.

What shapes can I get with acrylic nails?

Any shape! Coffin, stiletto, almond, square, squoval, oval, or a custom shape — our nail artists will create exactly what you want.

Acrylic Nails in Fort Myers

Acrylic nails remain a popular extension option for clients who want strength, durability, and a wide range of shapes and lengths. At Bliss Nail Lounge in Fort Myers, our nail technicians apply traditional acrylic using liquid monomer and polymer powder for a strong, long-lasting result.

What Are Acrylic Nails

Acrylic is a mixture of liquid monomer and a fine acrylic powder. When combined, the mixture forms a dough-like material that hardens at room temperature to a stable, sculptable surface. The acrylic bonds to your natural nail and creates either a tip extension or an overlay. Acrylic has been used in nail salons for decades and remains one of the most durable extension options available.

Acrylic Full Set vs. Fill

A Full Set is a complete new application of acrylic on each nail — what you book on your first visit or when you want a new shape or length. A Fill (Refill) blends new acrylic into the gap at the cuticle as your natural nail grows and refreshes the polish. Fills are typically needed every 2 to 3 weeks. Comparing options? See our acrylic vs gel nails guide.

Acrylic Shapes and Lengths

At our Fort Myers location, we shape acrylics in square, square oval (squoval), round, almond, oval, coffin/ballerina, and stiletto. Lengths range from natural (just past your fingertip) to long extensions. We recommend starting shorter on your first set if you've never had extensions before.

Acrylic with Gel Polish or Regular Polish

Acrylic extensions can be finished with regular polish (lasts about 1 week), gel polish (lasts 2 to 3 weeks), dip powder finish, or custom nail art. Most clients choose gel polish on acrylic for the longest-lasting result.
