Questions
Polygel FAQs
What is Polygel?
Polygel is a hybrid nail enhancement formula that combines the best properties of acrylic and gel. It's applied using a brush and slip solution, sculpted into any shape, then cured under UV/LED light. The result is a lightweight, strong, and flexible nail that looks completely natural.
How long does Polygel last?
Polygel nails typically last 3–5 weeks. They're very durable and maintain their shape well without becoming brittle.
Is Polygel better than acrylic?
For many clients, yes! Polygel is odorless, lighter, and more flexible than traditional acrylic. It's also gentler on natural nails. However, both have their place — our nail artists can recommend the best option for your nails during your appointment.
Can Polygel be sculpted into any shape?
Absolutely! Polygel can be sculpted into any shape — almond, coffin, stiletto, square, oval, and more — and to any length you desire.
Is Polygel safe for my natural nails?
Yes. Polygel's flexible properties mean it moves with your natural nail rather than against it, reducing stress and the chance of breakage.
Polygel Nails in Fort Myers
Polygel is a hybrid nail enhancement that combines the strength of acrylic with the lightweight feel of gel. At Bliss Nail Lounge in Fort Myers, polygel is a good choice for clients who want extensions that don't feel heavy or rigid.
What Is Polygel
Polygel is a putty-like material made from a blend of acrylic powder and gel. Unlike traditional acrylic, polygel is odorless and doesn't harden until cured under LED light. This gives the nail technician more working time to shape and refine each nail before committing to the final form.
Polygel Benefits
Polygel is lighter than acrylic, more flexible — bending slightly under pressure rather than cracking — with no fumes for a comfortable application. It's easier to remove than acrylic and holds nail art and color well.
Polygel Application
A polygel set at our Fort Myers location takes 75 to 105 minutes. The process includes natural nail preparation, polygel applied to a nail form or tip, shaping with a slip solution brush, LED curing, filing into final shape, color or French tip application, and top coat finishing.
How Long Polygel Lasts
Polygel typically lasts 3 to 4 weeks. Fills are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks as your natural nail grows. Polygel is soaked off using acetone — we do not recommend peeling or filing it off at home as this can damage your natural nail.
